Biography

Thomas Toch is one of the nation's leading education commentators. He has been a keen observer of the American education scene for over two decades--as an award-winning author, national magazine writer, Harvard instructor, columnist, and think tank founder and director.
He is now the founding director of the Center on the Future of American Education at Georgetown University.
Toch has been a guest commentator on such programs as the ABC Nightly News, Good Morning America, the CBS Morning News, Bloomberg TV, CNN, C-SPAN, Frontline, and National Public Radio. He has contributed to The Atlantic, The New York Times, The Washington Post, Newsweek, The New Republic, The Wall Street Journal, New York Magazine, The Los Angeles Times, the Wilson Quarterly, the Washington Monthly, and other national publications.

Toch has taught education policy at Harvard University and has been a guest scholar at the Brookings Institution in Washington. He co-founded the influential think tank Education Sector and is the author of two books on American education. His writing has won many prizes and has twice been nominated for National Magazine Awards, the magazine industry's equivalent of the Pulitzer Prizes.

Toch speaks on a wide range of elementary, secondary, and higher education topics, including the latest developments on education in the nation's capital.
