Learning how to cope with failure, and trying again are integral components of this program. Using her degrees in Criminal Justice, her background in probation and youth leadership, and her experiences as professional speaker, Harriet will give you tools and time tested strategies to create an incredible revolution in your life and in your work!

Just Be U (Teen Focused)
From the time we are little girls, we are shown images of what a beautiful woman looks like. We are taught that we should try to be beautiful, too. We dress up, we put on make-up, we play with our hair, we read the magazines, and we try. We try very hard. But, we never know when it’s enough. No one ever says, “You’ve reached the goal! You can stop trying now.” So we keep on reaching for perfection. We’d like for someone to tell us when we are beautiful enough.
This presentation will help young women recognize their true beauty and esteem. Beyond just their physical appearance, they will dig deep and uncover their strengths, their value, and their worth. The journey of self-discovery will set them free. They will learn to appreciate their own unique beauty and to discard the myth that everyone else is better than they are.

Harriet’s service learning programs encourage a new generation of student leaders to serve with substance. Rather than simply showing up for the ‘ta-dah’ moment, she challenges students to reach out to others and make a sustainable change by asking, “How can we serve you best?”

Your life is messed up. Guess what? Everyone else’s is too. For some reason, we keep thinking that everyone else has it all together, so we pretend that we do too. I think it’s time for us to stop pretending.
It’s a hopeless journey when you are trying to be superwoman. I know. I tried for years. I tried to be the best mom. The perfect wife. The finest friend. The worthiest career woman. I wanted to be everything and save the world. Then one day, I realized that I was miserable, and everyone around me had known it for years. Everyone but me. It was time to make a change.
